Since 2008 it is possible to see Riga from a totally new perspective & legendary pop group ABBA is linked to a series of new wooden boats that started cruising on the canal of Riga. Riga is the world-capital of Art Nouveau, some of the wooden boats cruising on the beautiful canal of Riga are also Art Nouveau boats, like the boat “Darling” built in Sweden and previously owned by one of the ABBA family members. Built in 1907, the peak year of Art Nouveau, it is now the oldest wooden boat in Riga. Since 2008 “Darling” has 4 elegant brother and sister boats, all in wood, equipped with modern electric engines and solar batteries which will produce 30% of energy needed. Now drinking champagne from crystal glasses while cruising home from waterfront restaurant is possible for groups of up to 120 people.
